Step 3: Driver Education
Most first-time drivers under 18 in Nevada must complete a driver education
course. You can enroll as early as age 15½, and you’ll need to complete the course after
passing the written test.
Note: Home-schooled students are not exempt from this requirement.

Where to Take the Course
- Courses may be taken through a public or private high school or a DMV- licensed professional driving school.
- Some private schools offer a 15-hour classroom + 5-hour behind-the-wheel option (must be DMV-approved)

Completion & Documentation
- Professional schools issue a Certificate of Completion, which must be presented when applying for your full license.
- High schools may issue a certificate, report card, or transcript as proof.

Logging Your Hours
- Keep a written log of all driving practice, ensuring you include the date, time, and duration of each session.
- Submit the log when you take your driving skills test.
Document Requirements:
- You must use either the RoadReady app or the DLD-130 form.
- Other logs will not be accepted.
