Our Commitment to Accessibility

The Nevada DMV is committed to providing accessible services, facilities and communication tools to all Nevada residents, including individuals with disabilities and people that speak different languages.

Following is information about the accessibility features and services available in DMV offices and this website.

Language Access Plan

DMV maintains an active Language Access Plan to ensure individuals with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) receive equal, timely, and meaningful access to all licensing, registration, and driver education services.

Website Accessibility Features

Screen Reader Compatible

The DMV website is designed to work with commonly used screen readers, including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver. Users can navigate content using headings, landmarks, links, and lists. Browser-based text-to-speech tools may also be used.

Keyboard Navigation

All website functions can be accessed using only a keyboard, without requiring a mouse

Legible Fonts

Clear, legible fonts are used throughout the site with appropriate sizing and spacing to support readability.

High Contrast Colors

Thes DMV website uses high-contrast color combinations that meet WCAG AA standards for accessibility, making content easier to read for users with low vision or color blindness.

Alternative Text for Images

Informational images include descriptive alternative text so screen reader users can understand their purpose and content.

Closed Captions

All video content includes closed captions. Captions can be turned on or off using video player controls.

Driver's License & ID Card Accessibility

Knowledge Tests

Available in audio format, multiple languages, and with extended time accommodations for individuals with learning disabilities.

Behind-the-Wheel Tests

Accommodations available for drivers with disabilities, including modified vehicles and specialized equipment.

Medical Review Unit

Specialized review for customers with medical conditions that may affect their driving ability. Confidential consultations available.

Disabled Person Parking Placards

Available for eligible individuals with mobility limitations. Applications can be completed at any DMV office or online. See more here.

DMV Office Accessibility Services

Assistance Services
  • DMV staff are available to provide assistance with completing forms, navigating the office, and accessing services. Please notify staff upon arrival if you need assistance.
  • Accessible parking spaces at all DMV locations.
  • Accessible restrooms.
  • Service animals welcome.
Communication Assistance
  • Sign language interpreters available upon request (48-hour advance notice preferred).
  • Assistive listening devices available at select locations.
  • Written communication options for customers who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Video remote interpreting (VRI) services at major offices.
Vision Services
  • Large print forms and materials available.
  • Staff assistance with reading and completing documents.
  • Audio-based knowledge tests available.
  • Magnification devices available upon request.
Alternative Document Formats

DMV publications and forms are available in alternative formats including large print, audio, and electronic formats. Contact us to request materials in an accessible format.

UbiDuo Machines
  • Portable, wireless communication device.
  • Equipped with two display screens and two keyboards.
  • Does not require internet or WiFi access.
Language Link
  • Interpretation services.
  • Offered in more than 240 languages.
  • Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Primarily used in the DMV Contact Center where a "live" translator will connect to the call.
iSpeak Cards
  • Notifies employees of additional translation help a customer may require.
