APPOINTMENT-ONLY SERVICE EXPANDS TO FOUR RURAL NEVADA DMV OFFICES

Residents in Elko, Fallon, Mesquite and Yerington required to schedule online for in-person visits

CARSON CITY – The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced that its four rural offices in Elko, Fallon, Mesquite and Yerington will now operate by appointment only for all in-person services.

“We’ve seen great success with scheduled service in our metropolitan offices since implementing our new appointment system,” said DMV Director Tonya Laney. “We are slowly shifting each rural office to appointment-only to ensure customers can plan ahead, avoid long waits and receive the same consistent level of service provided at each office.”

Residents living in rural areas and visiting these offices will notice that appointments can only be scheduled one day in advance, which is to help manage availability and ensure offices are not going over capacity. The DMV encourages customers to be proactive and not wait until the last minute for a time slot to become available. Renewal notices are sent out 60 days in advance for driver license and ID cards and 30 days for vehicles.

The DMV encourages customers to complete transactions online whenever possible. Over two dozen services, including registration renewals, driver license renewals and address changes, can be done online. See a full list of available online services here.
