Fee Exemptions

Homeless - Age 25 and Older

The DMV may waive the fee for a duplicate ID card for individuals 25 years or older who declare themselves homeless.

  • Must be a one-time exemption.
  • Applicants must apply in person.

Homeless - Under 25

Individuals under 25 who declare themselves homeless are eligible for full fee exemptions for:

  • Original
  • Renewal
  • Duplicate Nevada Driver’s License, ID Card, or Driver Authorization Card
  • No reimbursement is required.

Released Offenders

The DMV may waive the $21.50 duplicate fee for individuals released from prison or jail within the past 90 days.

  • Must provide official documentation of release from:
    • Nevada Department of Corrections
    • Equivalent agency in another state
    • Local jail
  • This is a one-time exemption for duplicates only. Must apply in person and complete DMV190 form

Photo Fee May Apply at Renewal:

You may be required to reimburse the $3.50 photo fee to the DMV at the time of your next regular renewal if you are employed at the time of renewal.

The fee exemption does not apply to:
  • New residents obtaining a Nevada license or ID for the first time.
  • Renewals
  • Any fees or requirements associated with a license suspension or revocation
  • Commercial licenses
